A lively group of volunteers has powered Kuumbwa’s success for nearly four decades! We are fortunate to live in a community with such talented and dedicated individuals who are ready, willing and able to set the stage from behind the scenes for visiting musicians from around the world. Volunteers support Kuumbwa Jazz in so many feel-good ways.
Volunteers work in many areas of the organization: They take tickets at the door; help in the café, bar and gift shop during concerts; assist the small paid staff with day-to-day operations throughout the week; and pitch in with special events throughout the year. We are always looking for more help — so thank you in advance for your interest in volunteering with Kuumbwa Jazz!
What is the time commitment of a volunteer?
Prospective volunteers are asked to make a one-year commitment. The amount of time volunteered each week depends on the type of task you are interested in. But all volunteers are expected to arrive on time ready to work and stay until their shift is completed – our concert schedule depends on it!
What can I do as a volunteer?
You can help with food prep, bar and café service, gift shop sales, dishwashing, concert hall cleanup, office assistance, marketing and development, special event assistance and door crew. We are always looking for people with specific talents, too, such as graphic design and marketing experience.
