Tom Lehrer Tribute

The beloved wit and musical genius of Tom Lehrer will take center stage at Kuumbwa Jazz Center in a special tribute concert to benefit Santa Cruz County’s public school music programs. This unique event will bring together fans of Lehrer’s satirical songs and humor for an evening filled with clever lyrics, whimsical melodies, and support for a worthy cause. The show will feature performances by a number of local singers including Dylan Music, Ralph Anybody, Michael Gaither, Mike Parks, Christa Taylor, and Dave Täht.

Lehrer, famed for his sharp social commentary and catchy tunes like “Poisoning Pigeons in the Park,” “The Elements,” and “The Masochism Tango,” is celebrated as one of America’s most iconic musical satirists. Local performers, including talented musicians and vocalists, will take the stage to perform his greatest hits, adding their own flair to his timeless pieces.

Proceeds from the concert will go directly to support music programs in Santa Cruz County’s public schools, ensuring that future generations of students can benefit from music education, creativity, and performance opportunities.
