Spirit of ‘75 Series: Carolyn Sills
Kuumbwa Jazz’s Spirit of ’75 Series celebrates our 50th anniversary with performances by local artists and $19.75 tickets commemorating our founding year.
Carolyn Sills booked her first show in Santa Cruz in the winter of 2010 and has been playing throughout the county ever since, from Don Quixote’s and Joe’s Bar to The Crepe Place, Moe’s Alley, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Monterey Jazz Festival and beyond. Join her in celebrating fifteen years of making music in town with a special performance highlighting it all, from her Patsy Cline tribute to The Carolyn Sills Combo and her newer duo project, Poi Rogers, with husband and constant handsome collaborator/guitarist, Gerard Egan.
Sills has been nominated for many national awards over the last fifteen years, and was the recipient of the Academy of Western Artists’ Western Swing Female of 2020, the 2018 and 2024 Ameripolitan Award Winner for Western Swing Group with The Combo and was inducted into the Sacramento Western Swing Hall of Fame. Her lyrics have been published in the ‘Lyrics as Poetry’ chronicles and her Mom thinks most of her songs are pretty catchy, but not that one about drinking too much.
