Sasha Dobson returns to her hometown with a plentiful and heartfelt body of original music. With twenty-five years of experience on tour and on the New York City jazz and singer-songwriter scene, she’s toured numerous times with Norah Jones as her guitarist and back-up vocalist, and also with their collaborative band Puss n Boots (a three-piece vocal group consisting of Dobson, Jones and Catherine’s Popper). Dobson has opened for Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and also plays drums for the legendary Pi Power Trio lead by B-52s guitarist Pat Irwin. 

Dobson says her greatest and most profound influences in art and in life were her parents, Bay Area jazz royalty, Smith and Gail Dobson. Her father, Smith Dobson, played countless shows at Kuumbwa Jazz, as did her mother, vocalist Gail Dobson. Sasha’s brother and hero, multi-instrumentalist Smith Dobson, Jr. will be a featured artist on this show. 

Sasha will be sharing a hybrid of jazz standards and original music. Trading instruments with her brother Smith and even debuting some of the newest songs written for her forth-coming album. Don’t miss this Santa Cruz homecoming and celebration of the Dobson family legacy.
