Santa Cruz music fans have a lot to be excited about this summer, but especially when Mighty Mike Schermer returns home with a new album, a smokin’ band, and over 35 years of touring and recording experience under his belt!

Joining Mighty Mike on the Kuumbwa stage for one night only will be Kid Andersen (Gtr/Voc) & Lisa “Little Baby” Andersen (Voc). All three artists will be celebrating new album releases on Little Village, a non-profit record label dedicated to promoting musicians deserving of wider recognition. They will be backed by an all-star band of Bay Area legends including Charlie Joe Wallace (Steel Gtr/Dobro), Paul Revelli (Drums), Joe Kyle Jr. (Upright Bass), Endre Tarzcy (Elec. Bass) and Tony Stead (Piano).

Mighty Mike Schermer was a fixture on the Bay Area blues scene for over 20 years when he relocated to Austin TX in 2009 and joined the touring band of swamp-boogie piano legend Marcia Ball. He had carved out a solid solo career…with five critically acclaimed albums, an award winning single and thousands of performances at festivals and nightclubs the world over…and was also the “go to guy” sideman for such heavyweights as Elvin Bishop, Bonnie Raitt, Maria Muldaur, Angela Strehli, Howard Tate, Charlie Musselwhite, Sista Monicaand many, many more. After thirteen years in Austin and on the road with Ball, Schermer relocated to Reno, NV and to date has 9 solo albums to his credit. He is widely considered one of the top songwriters in blues music, and his new album The Legend of Michael Ray Pickens and his Old Man Country Band will no doubt make him a force to be reckoned with in country music circles as well.

Chris “Kid” Andersen was born in Norway and grew up dedicating his life to the guitar and specifically the blues. He emigrated to the US at age twenty on a visa that designated him “an alien of extraordinary abilities”. Boy were they ever right about that! Kid is now a highly sought after multi-instrumentalist and engineer, having produced over fifty albums at his always-booked studio Greaseland USA in San Jose, CA. Many of those albums have received Grammy nominations and/or gone on to win Blues Music Awards. A true giant of the guitar, he has toured with Charlie Musselwhite, Elvin Bishop and has held the guitar chair with BMA “Band of the Year” winners Rick Estrin & The Nightcats for over fifteen years. His new album Spirits brings him to the forefront as a songwriter and vocalist for the first time on Little Village.

Lisa “Little Baby” Andersen’s voice is the not-so-secret weapon behind the success of both Greaseland and Little Village. An entertainer since day one, Lisa made her performing debut at age 7 with The Robin Andersen Big Band. After a stint as a child model, appearing on the “Twister” game box, Lisa made her presence known nationally as a singer on a couple of high profile TV shows, American Idol and Showtime at the Apollo. Her new album Soul reveals her to the world as a dynamic front woman and soulful interpreter of great songs from a variety of genres (including one penned by none other than Mighty Mike Schermer!).
