Featuring performances from Keith Greeninger and Vicki Randle, and an appearance from founder Richard Hoover, this event is presented in conjunction with Santa Cruz MAH’s upcoming exhibit, highlighting fifty years of Santa Cruz Guitar Company’s history and impact.

Founded in 1976 by Richard Hoover, the Santa Cruz Guitar Company brought boutique guitar making to the forefront of the steel string guitar business. In his unassuming Santa Cruz shop, Hoover and his team of dedicated guitar making craftspeople–luthiers–continue the powerful and melodic legacy committed to sustainability of materials. Each guitar is a love note to its eventual owner and this area, inspiring other musicians and luthiers.

As a singer-songwriter, Greeninger paints intricate portraits of the human condition with powerful melodic images, deep engaging guitar rhythms and husky, heart-wrenching vocals. Hailing from the Santa Cruz Mountains, he has toured the national Folk and Americana circuit extensively for over two decades. Randle is a multi-instrumentalist based in Oakland, whose discography includes music under her own name, as well as her queer female rock quartet, Skip The Needle. Randle was a longstanding member of The Tonight Show house band, and continues to tour around the nation.

Join Kuumbwa Jazz, Santa Cruz MAH, and Santa Cruz Guitar Company to celebrate the guitar makers’ legacy and continued influence, through an evening of music, memories, and community.
