Vocalist Kim Nalley has been heralded as “legendary” and a “San Francisco institution.” With an international reputation as one of world’s best jazz and blues vocalists, she has graced concert halls from Moscow to New York’s Lincoln Center. A true renaissance woman, Nalley has also been a featured writer for JazzWest and San Francisco Chronicle‘s ‘City Brights’, a produced playwright, a former jazz club owner, and an accomplished stage actress.

Nalley was listed by DownBeat Magazine critics in 2017 as a “Rising Star”. She is also on faculty at the California Jazz Conservancy. She is a PhD candidate in UC Berkeley’s history department with plans to write her dissertation on the Globalization of Jazz and Black Cultural Politics. On this concert date Nalley celebrates the iconic Music of Burt Bacharach.

As The New York Times writes, “A die-hard romantic, Mr. Bacharach fused the chromatic harmonies and long, angular melodies of late-19th-century symphonic music with modern pop orchestration and embellished the mixture with a staccato rhythmic drive.” Some of his notable songs, written with lyricist Hal David, include “The Look of Love,” “Walk On By,” “Alfie,” “The Look of Love,” “This Guy’s in Love with You,” and “(They Long to Be) Close to You.”

Nalley will be joined on this concert date by pianist Tammy Hall, bassist Michael Zisman, drummer Kent Bryson, and
Brown, Sturgis, & Brown on backup vocals.
