Buster Williams Trio
Buster Williams is a prodigious artist, bassist, and bandleader whose collaborations include work with jazz giants such as Art Blakey, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, and Kenny Barron, to name a few.
Williams has recorded soundtracks for movies including; David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and Spike Lee’s Clockers. Williams won a GRAMMY in 1979, and received five stars from DownBeat Magazine for his album, Crystal Reflections.
In 2004, Williams celebrated the release of Griot Liberte featuring Stefon Harris, George Colligan, and Lenny White. Kevin Convey, of the Boston Herald, wrote, “Just when you thought nobody made the kind of jazz album that depends more on class, beauty, chops and communication than on concepts and star value, along comes bassist Buster Williams’ Griot Liberte. It’s enough to restore your faith in the art form.” In 2006, Williams performed with the Mary Lou Williams Collective on the critically acclaimed album The Zodiac Suite. In 2007, Williams recorded a trio date with the late John Hicks. Released as On the Wings of an Eagle, the album would be Hicks’ last recording.
The Buster Williams Trio will feature Williams on bass, George Colligan on piano, and Domo Branch on drums.
