Having written music for Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Thad Jones, Bill Watrous, San Francisco’s Full Faith and Credit, and his own Great Big Band, he is adept at writing compositions and arrangements from big bands to small groups to rhythm trios to vocals and string orchestras. In this workshop, Ray will cover the fundamentals of jazz arranging including instrument ranges, transpositions, the rhythm section, song form, arrangement form, proper mechanics, and voicing’s (time permitting).
