“[…a] dazzling saxophonist…” – New York Times
When described as “one of the transforming figures of early 21st century jazz,” (The Guardian UK), the bar gets set pretty high. Saxophonist Steve Lehman is delivering the goods, though. A native New Yorker, Lehman has a global fan-base, yet still receives accolades such as #1 Jazz Album of 2009 by his “hometown paper” The New York Times. A studious player, his music is bound in tradition, yet he and his trio create powerful forward momentum, framed around Lehman’s diamond-sharp tone. His trio, with bassist Matt Brewer and drummer Damion Reid, released the eclectic Dialect Flourescent in 2012, which was included on many year-end ‘best-of’ lists.
