Master Class: Jeff Antoniuk – Building the Blues

In jazz, the blues is a shared foundation – but what is built on top of it is endless. A part of the JazzWire approach to connecting adult players around the world, this workshop will guide you through how great musicians evolve their blues lines from melodic statements into harmonic storytelling. Saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk will show how to connect your ears to your fingers, make chord tones sing, and experiment with substitutions that sound natural, not forced. This Building the Blues: From Feel to Freedom class is perfect for musicians looking to rediscover the blues with fresh ears, deeper understanding, and a sense of community. This class is presented in partnership with the Jazz Society of Santa Cruz County.
