Helen Sung: Sung With Words

Advance ticket sales for this show have ended.
Tickets will be available at the door starting at 6:00 PM

An award-winning classical pianist before jazz intervened “in the form of a Tommy Flanagan solo”, pianist/composer Helen Sung went on to graduate from the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance and win the Kennedy Center’s Mary Lou Williams Jazz Piano Competition. Now captivating listeners everywhere with a riveting artistry that seamlessly integrates the jazz and classical worlds, Sung’s latest album Anthem For A New Day, which features Grammy-winning NEA Jazz Master Paquito D’Rivera and MacArthur Fellow Regina Carter, heralds a new chapter in her musical evolution.  Sung’s new project, Sung With Words, is a music-inspiring-poetry-inspiring-music adventure with poet (& former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts) Dana Gioia. Sung’s band on this concert date features vocalist Christie Dashiell, saxophonist John Ellis, bassist Joe Martin and drummer Rudy Royston.
