Kuumbwa Jazz Presents

CANCELLED – David Murray & Kahil El’Zabar

COVID-19 Update: Recognizing the mandate from the Governor of California and other official agencies, Kuumbwa Jazz is cancelling/postponing concerts through at least June 25th. Ticket-holders will be contacted directly regarding refunds and other ticketing options, such as crediting the ticket(s) towards a future concert date, or recognizing the value of a ticket purchase as a tax-deductible donation to Kuumbwa Jazz. We will be working on rescheduling as many concert dates as possible and will provide updates as they become available. We appreciate your understanding and we will continue to follow the direction and guidance provided by official agencies, as the wellbeing of our patrons and community remains our top priority.

These two masters of modern music, saxophonist David Murray and multi-instrumentalist Kahil El’Zabar, have been at the forefront of creative exploration and compositional diversity over the past four decades. El’Zabar is revered as a cultural visionary and an innovative music conceptualist. He has recorded more than sixty acclaimed projects as the leader and has worked with such luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie, Pharoah Sanders, Nina Simone, and Stevie Wonder. Murray is one of the most recorded musicians in jazz, with well over 200 celebrated projects to his name. Murray was one of the founding members of the World Saxophone Quartet and has worked with greats such as Elvin Jones, Jack DeJohnette, McCoy Tyner, Jerry Garcia, Max Roach, Amiri Baraka, and Randy Weston.
