Carolyn Sills Combo plus Sharon Allen & Dusty Boots
The Carolyn Sills Combo‘s live show is full of three part vocal harmonies, dueling guitar and non-pedal steel instrumentals and tight arrangements of their own distinct style of music known as ‘spaghetti western swing.’
Nominated for five Ameripolitan Awards in the last three years, the group took home the trophy in 2018 for Best Western Swing Group. Their current release, Dime Stories Vol 2, was named by No Depression as one of the top new releases of 2016. The group has opened for and/or shared the stage with western music legends Asleep At The Wheel, Southern Culture on the Skids, James Hand and Don Edwards. A big promotional campaign is in the works for their third album, Return to El Paso, set for release this fall, and heavily influenced by one of their musical inspirations, Marty Robbins. They will be touring the Midwest this October in support of this new release.
Sharon Allen loves to sing. And people love to hear her songs. Having previously played with The Firebirds from 1979-2002 she was known as the “Little Lady with the Big Voice” and graced many a stage singing blues and working with the likes of B.B. King, Boz Scaggs, Robben Ford, Johnny Winter and Elvin Bishop. In 2002, Sharon found her writer’s voice and an ongoing collaboration with Sherry Austin, known as Sherry Austin with Henhouse. Working on songwriting and harmonies with Sherry gave her a renewed appreciation of acoustic music from her early years back east. She found her natural home in the folk music family of California’s central coast.
