CANCELLED – Alex Lucero & The Live Again Band with Derek Bodkin

Alex Lucero & The Live Again Band is 5-piece Soul/ Americana band, now based out of Santa Cruz California. The band has been playing professionally for over 3 years and band members age-range spans over 4 decades with generational talent led by lead singer Alex Lucero. The influences of the band ranges from R&B/ Soul of the 60’s and 70’s, Jazz Fusion, Afro Cuban, Reggae and everything in between. Together, the band has independently released three albums that are comprised of both studio and live performances. The band has received incredible response across Northern California, being played regularly on radio rotations, and performing live on the well known KPIG 107 “oink” 5. With the steamrolling effect of success in 2019, Live Again plans to record a budgeted studio album with touring opportunities in place for 2020.

From his childhood, Derek Bodkin desired to play music to make people laugh, smile, groove, raise an eyebrow, and learn a story or two. This is thanks to his father who raised him on the great Americana/Folk groups such as The Kingston Trio and The Limeliters. Derek enjoys telling stories, and does so in many of his songs with “a startingly appropriate mix of the comic and ominous.” (Pat Launer, KPBS radio.) One of Derek’s comedy tunes called “Captain Bodkin, Pirate Tailor” (written, by he and a friend, about his ancestor the notorious Irish Pirate Captain Francis Bodkin) was featured throughout West Coast radio stations and he performed the song live on KPIG radio’s highly acclaimed live program “Please Stand By.”
