 
2009 ASCAP FOUNDATION YOUNG JAZZ COMPOSER
AWARD RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED:
SANTA CRUZ RESIDENT KESHAV SING WINS AWARD
Honorees to Be Recognized at ASCAP
Jazz Wall of Fame Ceremonies on June 16 in NYC
[FEBRUARY 11, 2009] SANTA
CRUZ, CA — Keshav Sing, 17, a senior
at Pacific Collegiate School was awarded
an ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Award. ASCAP
is acronym for the American Society for Composers,
Authors and Publishers. Keshav and other
honorees will be recognized at the ASCAP
Jazz Wall of Fame Ceremonies on June 16 in
New York. Keshav has been playing jazz guitar
since 2006. He got his start playing in the
Kuumbwa Honor Jazz Band and was inspired
by older musicians in the band such as Ben
Flocks and Jesse Scheinin, whom continue
to perform regularly. Keshav is now in his
third year with the Kuumbwa Honor Jazz Band,
which continues to be an important part of
his growth as a musician. The band’s
next gig is performing in the lobby of the
Santa Cruz Civic on March 23, prior to Chick
Corea and John McLaughlin take the stage
with the Five Peace Band featuring
Christian McBride, Kenny Garrett and Vinnie
Colaiuta. Keshav has already recorded his
first CD, and is currently auditioning at
several universities to continue his musical
pursuits this fall.
Also receiving ACASP Young Jazz Composer
Awards are former Santa Cruz residents, now
living in New York, Remy and Pacal Le Boeuf.

American music creators and encouraging their
development through music education and talent

songwriting workshops, grants, scholarships,
awards, recognition and community outreach
programs, and public service projects for
senior composers and lyricists. The ASCAP
