Fusing the best aspects of Afro-Cuban and American styles of drumming, Cuban born Ignacio Berroa has been repeatedly acknowledged as one of the finest Latin drummers of our times. Although not always recognized outside of the inner circles of the jazz world, he is highly respected among his peers for his mastery of both Afro-Cuban and Jazz styles. Berroa's high-level musicianship and versatility have garnered him "first call" status for past and present greats from Dizzy to Wynton. His 2007 Grammy nominated debut recording as leader (Codes, Blue Note) will go far to dispel him as one of Jazz's best-kept secrets.
