“…Northern Californian flavoring with a downtown NYC avant-jazz sensibility.” – All
About Jazz
Best known for his work with the critically acclaimed New Klezmer Trio, (clarinetist) Ben Goldberg’s knack for spontaneous composition was honed during studies with Joe Lovano and Steve Lacy. With the help of some old friends, Go Home puts his anomalous work in the limelight. Heralded Bill Frisell sideman Ron Miles (trumpet) provides the adventurous foil to a cutting crew featuring the organ-esque comping of eight-string guitar whiz Charlie Hunter. As usual, Hunter pulls triple-duty with contrapuntal bass lines and intricate leads. (Drummer) Scott Amendola blurs boundaries with the assertive yet spacious rhythmic figures.
