Caravan is a five-piece group whose original music is derived from a directed collective improvisational space. Ann Whittington (vocals) and Phil Smith (tenor and soprano saxophone and flutes) are the band's co-leaders and co-writer/arrangers. The rhythm section consists of Brian Chester on keyboards, Victor Revere on bass and Jersey Foreman on drums. This group also plays traditional swing under the name "The Pragmatics." Expect to hear an eclectic mix of soaringly lyric originals, trance-inducing grooves and hard-swinging standards. Come celebrate the release of their latest CD, "Symphony of Stars ."
