Young and talented Georgia native Lizz Wright has lit up the jazz world with her gorgeous gospel-raised voice and soulful muse. Her debut recording for Verve, Salt, reflects her earthy personality and substance in songs she wrote as well as a thoughtful menagerie of tunes that include the classic “Afro Blue.” Her appearance at Monterey Jazz Festival in ’02 in both her own band and as a special guest for the Dave Brubeck-led Real Ambassadors reprise gave notice locally that she is a bright star on the horizon
